Job Description:
Reporting to the Executive Vice President & General Counsel, the
VP, Business Development is a critical member of the senior
management team and has an instrumental role in enabling company
growth. This position has direct and regular interaction with the
entire executive leadership team including CEO / CFO/ CPTO / EVP of
Sales and P&L leaders and is responsible for facilitating
inorganic growth initiatives of CDK through the development and
execution of company-wide M&A and business development
activities. This executive will develop and lead a high performing
team of Business Development professionals working in a fast-paced
environment.Position Responsibilities & Essential functions
- Establish and lead a robust and comprehensive process to
identify and evaluate potential opportunities, including rigorous
pipeline generation and screening process that that will surface
quality acquisition and partnering opportunities
- Engage as CDK leader on point for transaction structuring,
diligence, negotiation, transaction closing, and transition to
post-transaction integration and related activities
- Lead cross-functional teams in developing business case and
valuation analyses and performing due diligence by interfacing with
finance, accounting, legal, tax, R&D, IT, Implementation, HR
and other departments to assess strategic fit and deal
execution
- Serve as the architect and leader of a disciplined, repeatable,
and continually improving business development approach through the
strategic alignment with broader business goals
- Establish and nurture key external relationships across CDK's
industry segments as well as across relevant financial sector
participants
- Establish and nurture trusted relationships across CDK,
including executive leadership, and engage in thoughtful
stakeholder management throughout full lifecycle of business
development activities
- Assist CDK leadership with assessing and prioritizing areas of
strategic focus and regularly coordinate and communicate with
management on opportunities and activity
- Develop and lead a nimble team of high performing professionals
aligned to deliver outstanding service, process, and outcomes from
the Business Development organizationQualifications & Job
Requirements
- 10+ years of transaction experience in Business Development and
M&A operating at scale in a corporate, investment banking or
similar environment and across a spectrum of deal sizes
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related
field, or 10 years' equivalent experience; Master's degree
preferred
- Significant experience in leading teams to execute all aspects
of transactions including direct experience in M&A and
partnership negotiation, execution and integration
- Curious and creative thinker able to develop and nurture new
ideas while being pragmatic and mindful of real-world
operations
- Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively
with internal and external leaders, including oral and written
presentations and related materials for executive management
- Strong leadership and management skills coupled with a proven
ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and to manage
high-stakes and time sensitive complex cross-enterprise projects
and processes with multiple stakeholders
- Superior analytics and problem-solving skills, including
facility with advanced financial analysis, modelling, and business
valuation
- Adaptive and able to operate in dynamic and sometimes ambiguous
environments
- Motivated, self-guided with superior planning and project
management skills
- Proven ability to lead, recruit, retain and grow high
performing, diverse teams
- Must be able to travel at timesPREFERRED ATTRIBUTES &
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related
field
- Deep knowledge of the auto retail and adjacent technology
