Job DescriptionJOB SCOPE:The Product Manager manages sourcing and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) relationships within the Brand Business Unit for select products of Kenmore-Craftsman-DieHard (KCD) products to achieve annual operating plan profit and revenue. The Product Manager will work in a cross-functional team setting with engineering, finance, inventory, operations, channel management and external clientsJOB SUMMARY:The Product Manager is ultimately responsible for competitive assessment, focus groups, product positioning, promotion, pricing, market research, packaging, new product development, sales training and marketing to ensure sales and profits meet objectives.REPORTS TO:Sr Dir, Product ManagementResponsibilities/Skills/Experience RequirementsJOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Defines vision, goals, supports business metrics success indicators, and the strategic roadmap for new offerings or existing systems, identifies key features that drive customer value, and drives the prioritization and execution of engineering efforts; ensures cross-functional teams understand the business objectives
  • Leads next-generation new product development and sourcing for major and minor appliances
  • Reviews strategy of products and categories that are not part of the current KCD brand product portfolio and takes appropriate action to validate market/industry interest, financial feasibility, sourcing activates, and go-to-market strategy
  • Manages the full product life cycle to execute all phases from new product proposals, transitioning product proposals and end of life products
  • Completes gap analysis to assess the market, determines product and business opportunities, conducts market research and analysis, evaluates business and profitability potential, and presents business plan to key business leaders for go forward assortment recommendations
  • Completes competitive assessment to obtain and analyze competitor positions, products, and performance to enhance current assortment offering and develop go forward product strategy
  • Completes position analysis to analyze and evaluate optimal product selection for each channel's specific assortment and sell behavior
  • Provides product training, education, and marketing support for cross-functional teams for internal and external channel developmentJOB REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelors Degree
    • 5-10 years of related experience
    • Up to 25% travel
    • 18 years of age or olderREQUIRED SKILLS:
      • Very strong analytical skills, overall business orientation
      • Project management skills
      • Experience in negotiation
      • Tech savvy and passionate about products
      • Team player mentality, high level of flexibility and open-mindedness
      • Solid marketing, financial and operations background
      • Excellent people and management skills to interact with employees, cross-functional teams and OEMs
      • Strong leadership skillset
      • Computer literate, with moderate to expert knowledge of Excel, Word and other Windows-based softwarePREFERRED SKILLS:
        • Experience in sourcing new products to market
        • OEM management and relationship-building expertise
        • Experience in product management of energy-saving product categories
        • Experience in product management of health and wellness product categories (air and water purification)
