to find a qualified OR RN in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53215! Job
Title: Surgical Assistant Profession: Nursing Specialty: RN

Experience: Minimum 2 years CVOR experience License: Registered
Nurse Certifications: BLS, Graduation from accredited school
(required); CSFA (preferred) Must-Have: Strong CVOR background is
needed across all specialties. Ability to work independently with
minimal guidance. Description: CVOR/Surgical Assistant (not a
surgical tech) position available. This role involves working in a
Level III Trauma Center with Magnet Designation and is a
Comprehensive Stroke Center. The facility consists of 938 beds. On
average, 10 cases are performed daily. Patient types include cardio
and thoracic surgeries such as CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, and
robotic thoracic cases including lobectomy and hernia repair.
Additional cases include generator exchanges, lead extractions,
heart transplants, and fem-pop bypass surgeries. The surgical team
consists of two RNs per case: a Circulator and a Med RN. Patient
ratios are 1:1. Experience in a fast-paced environment is required.
Support on the unit includes a department supervisor, manager, and
team lead, all available without case assignments. Anesthesia
support is available 24/7. Surgical assistants will lead in
instrumentation and preference cards. The charting system used is
EPIC, which is required. Anesthesia techs may float between CVOR,
Main OR, and Cath Lab. Scheduling includes start times for tech/SAs
from 0530-0630. Weekend rotation involves on-call only, with
details provided later. Holidays are on-call only, as needed. All
staff, including travelers, adhere to a fatigue policy that
prohibits working more than 60 hours in a week or five consecutive
12-hour shifts. Scrub color will be provided. Required
documentation includes pain level assessment before and after
administration of pain medications. The pain score must align with
medication orders, necessitating additional orders for higher pain
scores if needed. On-site amenities include a cafeteria and coffee
