Department The Advancement Office engages alumni (~220k), current
students, parents, and friends of the University through
intellectual, professional and social activities on campus, around
the world and online. Advancement raises $600 Million annually to
support faculty and researchers, practitioners and patients, and
students and programs across the University. Our work supports
priorities in every division, school, department, and institute.
The Advancement Technology team delivers the data, systems, tools,
and technology strategy that power UChicago Advancement’s ambitious
fundraising and engagement goals. Taking an enterprise approach to
data and systems, the team develops and supports systems and tools
that are consistent, scalable, and adaptable. In close
collaboration with stakeholders across Advancement and the broader
University, Advancement Technology translates program strategies
into innovative, integrated solutions that enable, enhance, and
accelerate fundraising and engagement outcomes. The team is
committed to continuous innovation, centralized governance, and
building partnerships that ensure technology investments are
secure, future facing, and optimized for Advancement goals. Job
Summary Under the direction of the Director of Advancement
Reporting, the Analyst will participate in the development and
maintenance of a comprehensive suite of reports and dashboards
necessary to inform business groups across Advancement. This role
performs a range of activities to develop analytic platforms and
maintain administrative data across the University. Routinely
partners with functional stewards, business units, and user
partners to help deliver reporting and analytic solutions with
appropriate data governance and secure access. Receives a moderate
level of guidance and direction. The Analyst participates in the
documentation, development, and maintenance of the reporting and
business intelligence tools that equip UChicago’s 400 fundraisers
and Advancement professionals to meet the bold goal of raising over
$1B annually. They will foster a culture of collaboration,
curiosity, and accountability, empowering teams across a complex
matrix organization to fully leverage data to engage more alumni,
strengthen relationships, and increase philanthropic impact.
Responsibilities Under guidance and direction from the Director of
Advancement Reporting, participates in the design, development, and
roll-out of various reporting and business intelligence projects.
Develops knowledge and experience to solve problems and develops
intuitive reporting solutions that enable smarter, data-driven
decisions. Maintains established policies for governance,
management, and curation of catalog of available reporting assets.
Proactively engages with system users across business units to
learn business processes and understand departmental data
infrastructure. Participates in a variety of reporting and data
delivery projects. Contributes to planning, testing, and solution
development. Works towards building a broad perspective of both
technical capabilities and business needs to identify innovative
solutions and solve complex problems. Champions a culture of
data-driven decision-making and innovation, utilizing data to
evaluate and optimize outreach, donor segmentation, and campaign
performance. Conducts requirements analysis, translating
requirements into a scope document and developing reporting
deliverables based on the design. Seeks opportunities for
professional development that will enhance job performance
including attending webinars, seminars, building networks within
the University and with colleagues at peer institutions.
Participates in the development of Business Intelligence (BI) and
other analytical applications. Works to achieve an integrated
reporting and analysis environment, effectively leveraging
analytical systems and tools. Works with users to ensure
deliverables are meeting or exceeding expectations. Provides
support and communicates issues to users as defined by IT
standards. Monitors access control and troubleshoot BI and analytic
applications. Performs other related work as needed. Minimum
Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements include a college or
university degree in related field. Work Experience: Minimum
requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5
years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Certifications: Preferred Qualifications Education: Major in
computer science, statistics, business, or similar major.
Experience: Working with complex data sets in a business
intelligence, data analytics, or marketing research role. Working
in a Salesforce environment is highly preferred. Technical Skills
or Knowledge: Exceptional skills in data analysis and
interpretation, and drive business strategy through data-driven
insights. Strong project management skills, with an aptitude for
leading end-to-end project delivery. Expertise in BI, data
visualization tools, SQL, and a deep understanding of database
modeling concepts. Knowledge of fundraising, alumni relations, and
higher education are not required but strongly preferred. Preferred
Competencies Strong leadership skills, with the ability to

levels of the organization. Excellent communication, presentation,
and interpersonal skills. Articulate technical concepts to
non-technical audiences. Work across various teams and projects

ambiguity. Working Conditions This position has a hybrid work
schedule which includes weekly in office presence. Standard office
environment. Travel to campus and/or non-campus locations for
University business. Work evenings and weekends as needed. This
position is located in Hyde Park at 5235 South Harper Court.

rate or range represents the University’s good faith estimate of
the possible compensation offer for this role at the time of
