Summary: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting the
Senior Safety Coordinator and VP, Safety in the Companys efforts to
assure compliance with the safety and loss control program. The
role will assist to implement and supervise the Company safety
program and ensure compliance with the Company philosophy,
particularly on projects with lower safety complexity. The Safety
Coordinator may assist a Senior Safety Coordinator and/or the VP,
Safety on projects with higher safety complexity. Essential Duties
and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the implementation of short and long-term
departmental goals, policies and operating procedures.
- Contribute to all relevant aspects of a best-in-class safety
program built on continuous improvement, including implementation,
coordination, and monitoring of guidelines, policies, procedures,
and the overall safety program.
- Act as an internal consultant to all business units and
departments with respect to safety, particularly on projects with
low safety complexity.
- Provide safety guidance in the construction planning stages
including but not limited to project safety plans, and
pre-installation meetings. Identify procedures and responsible
parties to implement action items.
- Coordinate and/or conduct safety education programs for
Leopardo employees. Provide and monitor the necessary training
resources with applicable supervision.
- Conduct project safety observations and evaluations on a
regular basis to assure compliance with Company guidelines and
regulatory requirements.
- Assist Leopardo employees to perform meaningful safety
observations and evaluations as required.
- Attend and contribute regularly to Company and project safety
meetings.
- Participate in the incident investigation and emergency
response process for Leopardo.
- Participate in cross-functional teams outside of direct span of
control within the main Company divisions (e.g., Total Quality
Management, Quality and Training).
- Participate in and nurture broad networks of alliances with
others to exchange knowledge and information to develop and
implement industry best practices in support of change initiatives.
Education / Experience Requirements: Previous construction safety
and/or internship experience recommended. Bachelors or Associate
degree in Occupational Safety/Health or related field or equivalent
training and experience required. Computer proficiency in MS Office
Suite; Viewpoint a plus. Exhibit positivity, passion, integrity and
responsibility. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: Valid
drivers license is a necessity. Preference for Graduate Safety
Practitioner or seeking an accredited certification. Physical
Demands: Representative of those an employee encounters while
performing the essential functions of this job. Work is performed
mostly in office settings but does involve project settings. Some
outdoor work is required in the inspection of various construction
sites, land use developments, or occupied facilities. Hand-eye
coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces
of office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to
finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and
reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to
sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl; talk or
hear; and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move
objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Work
Environment: Representative of those an employee encounters while
performing the essential functions of this job. This role routinely
uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones,
photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is
occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. Also, on a
